What is the easiest way to get biome keys in Terraria? ›

Events are one of the best ways to farm Biome Keys and their Molds. An extremely large amount of Enemies spawn during events, and many of them will have a chance of dropping a Biome Key or Mold, supposing that you are in the appropriate biome in which one can drop.

Each biome chest can be obtained by throwing its' respective biome key into a pool of shimmer. In order to open a Biome Chest, the following steps are required to take: Defeat Plantera for the first time to lift the curse from Biome Keys, allowing them to be used.

You could try to use hybrid biomes though and farm for 2 different keys at the same time (e.g. a hallowed desert can provide both desert keys and hallow keys). On PC/mobile, increasing your luck stat (through luck potions, gnomes, etc.) will slightly boost the odds, although it won't have any significant impact.
